This guide presents five key components — Capable, Confident, Construct, Connect, and Contribute — that unlock potential. Like academic skills, these can be taught, modeled, and practiced. Together, parents and educators can intentionally develop these keys to open doors from a healthy childhood to a thriving adulthood.
The keys to unlock the mystery of character development have been hiding in plain sight for decades. Social Emotional Intelligence has been identified and presented as theory in various parenting and education programs. The challenge has been moving beyond the philosophical understanding to practical application. By understanding each of these Keys and committing to intentionally create opportunities to develop each key, parents and educators can work together to unlock the potential and open doors of opportunity for every child.
