Courage to Admit Board Game

By: Tonia Caselman and Joshua Cantwell

In order to work on improving a problem, one must first admit there is a problem. However, admitting problems and mistakes takes strong ego strength which is often lacking in young clients. This game was developed for the purpose of helping individuals feel less reactive to admitting mistakes by desensitizing them to the process. It will assist those children and adolescents who need to take responsibility for their actions, learn how to admit mistakes and problems and, when necessary, to apologize.

Courage to Admit uses a simple game board to create game play with three (3) kinds of cards: Role-play cards, Consequence cards and Discussion cards. Children/adolescents will benefit from the game by:

  • Improving self-awareness and introspection skills
  • Reducing the need for impression management
  • Becoming less emotionally reactive when admitting mistakes and problems
  • Increasing responsibility
  • Learning about everyday events that need apologies

Game includes:

  • Laminated game board
  • Six (6) playing pieces
  • Three (3) sets of game play cards (Role-Play, Consequence and Discussion)
  • Die
  • Instructions plus two (2) reproducible worksheets

For 2-6 Players
