Janet M. Bender, M.Ed.

As a veteran teacher and counselor of young children, Janet discovered a need for specific resources that she soon began writing from her experiences in education. Janet’s first publication in 1999 was Ready…Set…Go! A Practical Resource for Elementary Counselors. Her passion for mentoring other counselors soon led to the best-selling resource, School Counselor’s Scrapbook. My Daddy is in Jail, a story for use with children of incarcerated parents followed in 2002. To date, Janet has written more than 7 creative and practical works including a guide for helping children of deployed military.

A native of South Carolina, Janet was born and raised in Conway. She studied elementary education at Winthrop University and later earned her M. Ed. in counselor education from The Citadel in Charleston.

Janet lives in Goose Creek, SC with her husband, Frank, where they are active in church and community service. You may contact her at jfbender@bellsouth.net.
