Sue
Smith-Rex, Ed.D. recently retired as a professor of Special Education
from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. after thirty years
of teaching in both public schools and higher education, she
is now doing consulting work involving "at risk" issues and is
the owner of a small business. In addition to co-authoring eleven
books, she has conducted workshops throughout the US on the topics
of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and school bullying.
She has been the recipient of many professional awards: 1998-
South Carolina Association of Counselors' Humainitarian Award;
1992- President Bush's Point of Light Award; and the 1988- Jefferson
Pilot recipient of the Jefferson Award for public service.
Sue
and her husband, Jim remain committed to the improvement of teaching
and learning for every student in America's schools and to the
unique contribution our schools continue to make to the American
Dream of equal opportunity for all.
The
Rexes have four adult children: Jeffrey, Adam, Siri, and Nathan.
